Tax law is complex, and dealing with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and state taxing agencies can be intimidating. You should not do so without competent legal counsel. A tax controversy with the IRS or other government agency can take a business or individual through complicated and challenging stages: administrative audits, appeals, post-appeals mediation, and litigation in federal court.
Our goal is to resolve a tax controversy at the earliest possible point while securing the best possible settlement for our clients.

If you are a New Jersey resident, you may or may not know that, in addition to state income taxes, New Jersey is one of a number of states that also impose a state estate tax, as well as a state death or inheritance tax. Recent legislation will repeal the estate tax, effective January 1, 2018, but New Jersey residents will still be subject to the inheritance tax, imposed on siblings, nieces and nephews of a decedent (spouses and children are exempt).
The state of Florida, on the other hand, currently has no state income tax and not state death/inheritance tax. Consequently, if you are a New Jersey resident and you want to reduce your potential tax liability, becoming a resident of Florida can help you do that. But it's not an easy process.
